Will Powell joined the Lauderdale County D.A’s office in January 2005 as Chief Assistant District Attorney. He earned his law degree from The University of Alabama School of Law after receiving an undergraduate degree from Rhodes College.

Prior to joining the Lauderdale County D.A’s office, Powell worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Montgomery County D.A’s office, at which time he was honored as Prosecutor of the Year by VOCAL (Victims of Crime and Leniency).

Powell is a native of Decatur and is married to Emily Rhodes. The Powells have two children.

Angie King Hamilton joined the Lauderdale County D.A.’s office in May 2006 as an Assistant District Attorney. She earned her law degree from Jones School of Law after receiving an undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Hamilton is responsible for prosecution of cases directly or indirectly related to the use of methamphetamine and serves as part of the Lauderdale County Drug Court Team. She also works closely with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force and provides training on search and seizure and related issues to local law enforcement officers. She prosecutes cases in Circuit and District Court.

Prior to joining the Lauderdale County D.A.’s office, Mrs. Hamilton, a native of Arab, Alabama, worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Montgomery County D.A.’s office.

Stacy Hooper joined the Lauderdale County DA’s office in August 2007 as an Assistant District Attorney. She earned her law degree from Cumberland School of Law after receiving an undergraduate degree from Auburn University.

Ms. Hooper primarily handles juvenile prosecutions, misdemeanors and traffic court offenses.

Prior to joining the Lauderdale County DA’s office, Ms. Hooper, a native of Muscle Shoals, was in private practice in Lauderdale County.

Robert F. Smith joined the Lauderdale County DA ’s office in June 2008 as an Assistant District Attorney. He earned his law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1984 after receiving an undergraduate degree from The University of North Alabama in 1981.

Mr. Smith is under contract to prosecute child support enforcement cases for the DA’s office. The DA’s office represents IV-D clients for the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

Mr. Smith maintains a private law practice in Florence, Alabama. He is very active in professional associations in the area of Divorce and Family Law. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has served as President of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar.
