Writing a worthless
check is a criminal offense and can lead to arrest and time in
jail. We believe that holding bad check writers
accountable for their crimes serves as a deterrent for others
who may consider committing this crime.
The worthless
check unit works closely with area merchants and individuals who
have been victimized by bad check writers. In 2007, the
unit recovered approximately $300,000 for these victims.
